People recently have said Obama has brought a change, I agree that he has brought a change to the look of the government, not as black man but as a take charge leader. It was a great to see him get sworn in last week. That moment in time meant a lot to me, but it’s the two or three generations before me who really knew how to grasp the moment. Crowds of people were reflecting on the foot steps of fallen leaders. The dreams they felt were crushed and died with Civil Rights leaders and the many followers who’s lives were casualties for justice.
While I sat at work sneaking an earpiece watching President Obama I felt something was going on in the spirits of many. A sea of diverse faces filled with joy and a sense of pride, at that moment I knew people were ready for a change. But “change” could not be left in the hands of one man who is merely mortal like the rest of us.
I’ve was asked why do you support Obama and I replied with an honest statement, “Obama is me he represents what I stand for bringing a change and making a difference.” The G-Hamp team supported Obama, because he represents every aspect of what the acronym stands for. He’s not only our president, but a model of a man who we are and want to be.
Don’t leave change it to one man. We all need to get and make a difference in our own communities. Lets pick up the pieces and move forward. For example you can do you part helping the youth by signing up for Big Brother Big Sister. Also subscribe to the G-Hamp site and we can provide more ways of helping out. It’s time that we as a people take the initiative and take action. No longer can we wait on someone to lead we are the leaders. Great men and women have paved the way and planted these seed in us, we need to grow. Tomorrow is today we’ve realized that the “dream” is a live and well, lets not let it go. If Obama being in the White House is the “dream“, than that “dream” is only for 4 or maybe 8 years, and than what? Is that it, is that why we had record voting registrations, voting lines, and assembled to watch a new leader rule this great nation.
This is food for thought, really think about what a small difference you can make. This is what we’re about in G-Hamp, the name is a reflection of ourselves, but we represent you the people because when our time is done on this earth the future generations may take today’s events for granted.
So in the words of Lawrence Fishburne‘s character in School Daze “WAAAAKE UUUPP!!”, lets stop dreaming and get to work today. It’s a new day.
